Hyundai will soon reveal its next generation Veloster, a hatch and hot hatchback that didn't quite go all the way the first time around. Hopefully that'll be changing. Although Hyundai North America hasn't released any details, its South Korean media website has, specifically with these images of the new Veloster Turbo covered in rainbow camouflage. The funky coloring will certainly be gone when the new Veloster is officially unveiled at Detroit this January.

Exact details are still unclear at the moment, but from what we've learned the turbocharged 1.6-liter will return with around 200 hp and come paired to a six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed dual-clutch. The base Veloster will probably have a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with around 160 hp. The top-end Veloster N, hopefully, will come powered by the turbocharged 2.0-liter with 271 hp from the Europe-only i30 N. The pre-production Velosters shown in these images, judging by the more aggressive styling with the large rear wing, bigger wheels and air vents, is probably the N model. We wouldn't be surprised to see Hyundai unveil the base and Turbo models first, followed by the N sometime later in 2018.
