The pint-sized crossover is aggressively frugal, and it's got a manual.
When the Venue goes on sale in 2020, it will be Hyundai's smallest and cheapest crossover. It'll slot in neatly under the Kona and be powered by a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine. Frugality with style is the name of Hyundai's game here, and the South Korean automaker has announced its all-new Venue will start at $18,345 with destination charges. That absolute base model comes with a six-speed manual transmission, though, and only in the absolute base model. The rest of the range comes with a six "speed" CVT branded as Smartstream IVT. The mainstream buyers will want the automatic option, and the buy-in for a base model Venue with a CVT is still competitive and under $20,000.
With destination charges, that base model SE trim with a CVT comes in at $19,545. It's also equipped with what should be considered the basics now in the form of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability and, in this case, Hyundai's SmartSense suite of safety tech. Base models also feature an 8-inch touchscreen for infotainment and keyless entry.
Stepping up to the SEL trim costs $20,245 and opens up two package options to tick. The Convenience package costs $1,150, and bundles a power sunroof, sliding armrest storage box, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.
The premium package for the Venue requires the Convenience package box to be already checked and an extra $1,750 to be handed over. That adds heated front seats and side mirrors, LED headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights and taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels, proximity key with push-button start, Navigation, HD and Sirius radio, and Hyundai's Blue Link Connected Car System.
There's also a fun package to add called Denim. It comes with a specific shade of blue paint with a white roof, a denim interior color, and cloth/leatherette trimmed seats. Hyundai says the Denim package can replace one of the SEL available packages or be added on top of them. Added on its own to the SEL trim, you can drive it away for $23,045. The all-new Hyundai Venue should start popping up at dealers this month.
