Just in time for the New York Auto Show, Mazda has pulled the wraps off of its latest version, high-performance version of the all-new 2016, dubbed the Club Edition. And this is exactly the sort of club that most of our readers want to be in: available with automatic and manual transmission, the MX-5 Club Edition will receive 17-inch gray wheels, 205/45 tires, and quite noticeable front splitters and rear lip spoilers. Aiming for true Miata enthusiasts, Mazda promises to throw in a whole bunch of additional goodies for those who opt for the manual transmission.

The six-speed manual comes with four Bilstein dampers, a limited-slip differential with SKYACTIV-MT and a front shock-tower brace. Need more performance than that? Mazda will also offer an optional package that further includes 17-inch forged lightweight BBS wheels, Brembo front brakes, aerodynamic side sill extensions and a rear bumper skirt, making the car very similar to the striking Chicago Auto Show preview car and MX-5 Global Cup race car. Standard equipment on MX-5 Club models includes MAZDA CONNECT and a 9-speaker Bose audio system.

MX-5 is the heart and soul of Mazda, serving as a beacon for the rest of our lineup with its fun-to-drive dynamics, design and technologies," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO in the company's official press release. "Jinba Ittai-oneness between driver and machine-defines the MX-5. It's a philosophy that has led every decision we've made toward bringing the MX-5 back to the basics that made drivers fall in love with it 26 years ago when the first generation debuted."
