In 2030 You Will Be Able To Buy A C7 Corvette Z06 For Around $20,000

We predict the future by looking at past Z06 prices.

The C7 Corvette Z06 is an amazing vehicle that can compete with European models that cost more than twice as much. It's a performance bargain with a base price of $79,450 for a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 650 horsepower. There are only a handful of models on sale that can compete with the Z06 for less than $100,000. Even though the Z06 is a great bargain for its level of performance, it can still break the six-figure mark when fully equipped. Even though the Corvette is relatively well priced, we wouldn't call it cheap.

Most people cannot afford to spend over $80,000 on a sports car. Even with the excellent incentives that are currently being offered by GM, you won't be able to buy a Z06 for less than around $69,000. We love to give used car buying advice to people who are looking to save money on a car. If you have more than $30,000 to spend, we highly recommend that you look at the previous C6 generation Z06 which you can find for less than $40,000. The C6 Z06 came with a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 hp. This is well short of the new car's 650 number, but not bad for the price. Even in the $30,000 price range, we still think that there are a lot of people who want a less expensive option. Also, some people won't settle for less than 650 hp.

If you absolutely cannot stand to have less than 650 horsepower, we get it. Horsepower is fun, and even the 505 horsepower C6 might not be enough for you. We wondered how long you might have to wait for the C7 Z06 to eventually become affordable through depreciation. We looked back at the C5 Z06 to see if we could make a rough prediction. The C5 Z05 was in production from 2001 to 2004 and came with a 5.7-liter V8 with 405 hp. 15 years ago you could buy a brand new Z06 Corvette for $56,445. Now, you can buy a used C5 Z06 for less than $20,000. We found a used 2001 model with 69,000 miles for just $16,495. So what will the C7 be worth 15 years from now?

Right now, you can buy a used C5 Z06 for as little as 29% off its original MSRP. If we applied the same depreciation to a 2015 C7 Z06, it would cost around $23,000 in 2030. That means that if you are willing to wait around 15 years, you will be able to buy the amazing 650 hp Z06 for around the same price as a new Ford Fiesta ST.

We can't wait until the C7 Corvette Z06 reaches this level of depreciation. You may be skeptical that such an incredible car could ever be so affordable, but you need only to look at old Z06 models to see that it will eventually happen. The C7 is already a performance bargain, but if you are willing to wait, it will eventually be the bargain of the century.
