Seriously, it's time to get serious here, Infiniti.
We’ve been begging – literally – for what seems like ages now for Infiniti to step to the plate and become the luxury brand it’s truly capable of being. It’s been an excruciatingly slow process but change is coming. First, there was the Q50 Eau Rouge concept, a super sedan given its strength by the Nissan GT-R’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6. Infiniti gave away various clues that this BMW M5 fighter was on its way to production in the near future. Only now there’s silence, and no word on when (or if) the Q50 Eau Rouge will ever happen.
And only a few weeks ago did Infiniti reveal its Q60 Concept, essentially a near-production-ready coupe that’ll soon take on the likes of the BMW 4 Series. And maybe, just maybe, the M4. Rendering artist Theophilus Chin has now given us his idea as to what a Eau Rouge-ified Q60 super coupe could look like. Alongside its Q50 sedan counterpart, Infiniti would finally have a few interesting things on offer. Sadly, Infiniti has shown time again it can’t make a decision on real performance. At least it’s ruled out an EV for the time being but seriously, Infiniti: grow a pair and build either the Q50 or Q60 Eau Rouge – or both. Prove to us a Japanese luxury brand has what it takes to take on Germany. Oh wait, Lexus has already beaten you to that.
