Infiniti has released a brief teaser clip of a new vehicle it is set to unveil at the Detroit Auto Show on January 14. We don't know at this point whether it'll be a concept or a production model, but Infiniti is calling it the Q50. Replacing the G37 sedan (pictured), the new Q50 is expected to borrow underpinnings from Mercedes-Benz. Sources expect a V6 engine with possible direct injection, upheld by the engine note in the video clip. Otherwise all you see is the aggressive shape of the headlight.

The Q50 nameplate falls into the brand's new nomenclature, replacing its previous alphanumeric naming scheme that combined a letter (conveying the model line) and two digits (representing the engine capacity). Instead new cars will bear the letter Q, and SUVs the letters QX, with the two digits to follow indicating the position in the brand's lineup.
