Infiniti has been talking about a new sports car concept set for debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show for some time now. The Japanese automaker has just released some new details about the mysterious concept, beginning with its name. The Infiniti Emerg-e arrives on the heels of the Infiniti Essence hybrid concept from the 2009 edition of the Swiss show and the front-wheel configured Etherea hatchback concept from last year's show.

The Emerg-e concept marks Infiniti's first foray into mid-engine automobiles and is a range-extending plug-in hybrid. The rear-wheel drive configured two-seater is performance-driven with zero-emissions capability. The Infiniti Emerg-e concept will make its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. We expect the automaker to continue teasing its latest high-profile model up until it makes its official debut. It will be followed by an EV sedan at the New York Motor Show in April.
