You know you want this. Happy bidding.
Before today's Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the C6 Corvette ZR1, there was the C4 ZR1, the very first of the so-called "Super Corvettes." Built from 1990 until 1995, a total of 6,969 ZR1s were produced and has since become a highly sought after collectible. Power comes from a Lotus-designed and Mercury Marine-built 5.7-liter V8 with dual-overhead camshafts. It produces 375 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque, and went from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Top speed was clocked at 180 mph.
None of those figures may sound like much today, but during the C4's time they were exemplary. A regular C4 produced about 245 hp. And like a true Super Corvette, the C4 ZR1 had quite a price tag: $58,995. And now there's this 1990 ZR1 up for sale on eBay with just 127 miles on the odometer. It's painted in Bright Red with a black leather interior, and equipped with a six-speed manual. It also has the Z51 performance handling package and removable roof. Like all C4 ZR1s, there are also wide tires, a wider tail section and a unique rear fascia featuring a third brake light. As of this writing, the highest bid was just over $30,000. However, there are still three whole days left to bid. Expect that number to increase.
