Is a BMW 9-Series Super-Luxury Model Coming to Beijing?

A Rolls Royce-sourced BMW with ultra-luxury could take on the next S Class Maybach.

With the Beijing Motor Show set to open on the same days asthe NY Auto Show, there are now serious rumors claimingthat BMW is planning to unveil an ultra-luxury concept based on the Rolls RoycePhantom. After confirming its plans to build a full size X7 SUV, BMW iscontinuing its upwards movement, and according to AutoMotorundSport, it couldbase the 9's design on the stunning Pininfarina Gran Lusso V12 Coupe shown at last year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

With plans for a Mercedes-Benz flagship S Class Maybachmodel already confirmed, BMW would gear the Niner directly at this car, alsoaiming high at competition from Bentley and the likes. Though no officialdetails regarding the model were released, we’d expect it to incorporateextreme luxury features and a massive size that would dwarf BMW's current flagship, the 7-Series. Stay tuned for more details prior to the Beijing show.
