The i lineup from BMW is a bit of a confused one because it only offers two cars on the opposite ends of the spectrum. One car is a dedicated city car and the other side is a performance model. There is no stepping stone resting in between to mediate the change. The real question is, how much of that city car DNA from the i3 made it into the i8? The bigger Bimmer may be the performance model, but it only has a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and gets mileage that will catch the attention of a Prius.
