This is just a tale of contradictions.
Only days ago we reported that GM's global design boss indicated the Cadillac Elmiraj concept coupe may not happen. The reason being was that Cadillac's design team was simply too busy working on more important projects. Additionally, big rear-wheel-drive coupes generally don't sell well in the US. But that was a few days ago. Today comes a new report that quotes GM North American President Mark Reuss saying in reference to the Elmiraj, "You make a statement with a coupe. You don't have a statement with a sedan."
From this we hope that a production Elmiraj is happening. Cadillac is in desperate need for a halo model and it'd be downright awesome if it was a big coupe. Think of a production Elmiraj as a competitor to the upcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe. It would be epic. For now, no other GM or Cadillac official has made any further clarifications regarding this, but this update is certainly looking better now than it was barely a week ago. Perhaps we are reading into this one a bit, but we will certainly keep our ears to the ground for additional information in the months ahead.
