Is The New 2017 Nissan Armada The Best Large SUV You Can Buy Today?

Review

It's kind of hard to argue otherwise, honestly.

Everything has changed for the better with the new 2017 Nissan Armada. First launched back in 2004, the first generation was actually on the market until only last year, and its age clearly showed. In fact, the Infiniti QX80, even ditched the Armada platform for that of the latest Nissan Patrol when it was redesigned. And now, finally, the Armada has become the Nissan SUV we’ve always wanted in the US: the Patrol. For decades, the Nissan Patrol has been regarded as one of the best all-around large SUVs in the world.

It’s primary competition included the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser. But Nissan wised up and listened to what its customers wanted, hence the rebadged Patrol being the new Armada. How does it differ from the QX80? Aside from a different front grille and Nissan badges, not all that much, really, as we discuss in this unboxing review.

OK, so you can’t have some of the QX80’s opulence, but is that opulence really worth paying $20,000 more for? With the new 2017 Nissan Armada, you get a true body-on-frame chassis large SUV with a naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8, and more luxury than you probably need. The new Armada is a true off-road capable SUV with three rows of seats and slick styling. What more could we ask for?
