Is The New Volvo S60 Polestar A Serious High Performance Competitor?

Polestar

Yes. A high performance Volvo.

During the Summer of 2015 Volvo announced its acquisition of Swedish tuning firm Polestar, bringing the tuning house entirely under its control. Polestar is now essentially to Volvo what AMG is to Mercedes-Benz and M is to BMW; the official high performance segment of the brand. Although high performance is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Volvo, the Swedish automaker has just released an impressive new Volvo S60 Polestar race car that is sure to turn heads.

The freshly tuned S60 is powered by a 400 horsepower 4-cylinder turbo Drive-E engine. Two of the new Polestar S60s will be entered into the 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). The WTCC has traditionally been dominated by Honda, Chevrolet and Cirtroen, but Volvo hopes to shake things up this year with its new S60 Polestar race car.
