There's no question the latest generation Porsche 911, the 991, is a much better-looking car than its immediate predecessor, the 997. Still, the old model was a thing of beauty in the performance and handling departments. The now discontinued 997 Carrera 4 GTS is perhaps the best combination of everything from that car's era and the guys over at XCAR apparently agree. Though the old 997 isn't quite as refined as the 991, this Carrera 4 GTS is still quite a thing. But does it lack a soul?

Despite being a marvel of German engineering, the 997 Carrera 4 GTS may just be missing the key element of what makes an absolutely brilliant and memorable sports car.
