Straight off the bat, Porsche is offering its elite clientele the chance to strip down the new 918 Spyder with a more hardcore variant available via the Weissach package. The Weissach edition strips some 41 kg off the Spyder's curb weight, thanks to widespread use of titanium, carbon fiber, magnesium and ceramics. The magnesium wheels, for example, shed 13 kg of unsprung mass, while the interior features Alcantara upholstery and six-point seatbelt harnesses. Buyers also get a choice of two race-livery foil wraps.

The result is a reported two-second drop off the car's Nurburgring lap time, and one second improvement on its 0-186 mph time – dropping to 18.9 seconds.
