OK, we know these two cars aren't in the exact same segment, but they're still similar nonetheless. Both the Ford Focus ST and Scion FR-S are performance cars for those who love driving and are on a budget. Both offer slick-shifting six-speed manuals, track-tuned suspensions, and a base price of around $25,000, give or take a few bucks. Although it's a five-door hatchback, front-wheel drive, and powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four banger, the Focus ST, for many, is the preferred choice between the two.

Even though sales aren't too hot, the FR-S is a RWD coupe with a naturally aspirated 2.0 under the hood. For model year 2015, Ford has given the Focus ST a facelift. So, is the Focus ST the ideal daily driver for enthusiasts instead of a RWD coupe? Motor Trends goes for a test drive to find out.
