It's hard to imagine a more hardcore version of the menacing Mercedes-AMG GT R, but last year AMG boss Tobias Moers confirmed that a Black Series version is coming. Sadly, it looks like we'll have to wait until 2018 for the beast to be unleashed, but a new spy video has possibly provided our first glimpse of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series in all its growling glory. The video shows what appears to be a camouflaged Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series prototype being put through its paces around the Nurburgring.

Compared to the track-focused GT R, the test model shown in the video has a noticeably wider body, as well as a more aggressive front bumper allowing for even larger air intakes and canards at the corners providing extra downforce. At the rear, the GT R Black Series has a center exit exhaust and a dominating diffuser.

The AMG GT R represents the current range-topper packing a monstrous 577 horsepower, so chances are the GT R Black Series will produce over 600 hp, especially since the E63 S has 603 hp. Black Series models tend to be released at the end of a model's lifecycle. Given that the Mercedes-AMG GT R was only recently launched in the US, we probably won't see the Black Series revealed any time soon, sadly.
