Is This The Best Front-Wheel Drive Car For Hoonery?

And its top speed is how many mph?

It's hard to argue that you're not getting something of a performance bargain with hot hatches. And perhaps the best hot hatch you'll soon be able to buy (if you live outside of the US that is) is the new Honda Civic Type-R. In fact, no previous Civic Type-R has ever been sold in the US, and that's a damn shame. This latest one, having just had its official reveal at Geneva in March, is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four banger churning out 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels by a short-throw six-speed manual.

0-62 mph happens in just 5.7 seconds and top speed is an insane 167 mph. Yes, this is a Honda Civic we're talking about here, and one that'll likely soon set a new Nurburgring lap record for its class. Our friends at XCAR recently spent some time behind the wheel and, well, is the new Type-R best for track life only?
