A V8 makes everything better.
The Toyota Prius isn't a vehicle that enthusiasts really like, but it's the vehicle that arguably started the hybrid craze. APR Racing has turned the Prius into something that any enthusiast would love to drive with a few modifications. Thanks to a new mid-engined chassis, 3.4-liter V8 and giant wing, this is the coolest Prius in the world. Unfortunately, it's engineered to compete in Japan's Super GT racing series, so there won't be a road-going version of the vehicle.
APR Racing pulled the wraps off of the vehicle earlier this week and the race car looks better than we could have ever imagined.
Technical details haven't been released, but we do know that the GT300 still utilizes the Prius' Hybrid Synergy Drive system. However, it has been moved to the passenger footwell for better weight distribution. To meet the Super GT's regulations, the GT300's performance is capped at 300 hp with an unspecified amount of torque. APR Racing unveiled the new GT300 race car at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon with the vehicle making its racing debut at the Okayama International Circuit on April 9 and 10.
