AMG GT Black Series

Mercedes-AMG GT cars are brutish looking performance cars that epitomize style and speed, and the automaker keeps adding more of them to the lineup, much to the delight of gearheads around the world. There are already quite a few different models out with more to come. In and among the variations on the various AMG cars out there, we find a bunch labelled as the Black Series. What makes these cars worthy of such a cool title? Well, they are more powerful, more finely tuned versions of non-Black Series models.

No, they don't necessarily sport black paint. (They can actually be ordered in any color.) The one seen here is quite possibly silver under its disguise.

The guys over at Supercarsfromeu caught what is believed to be the 2108 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series testing at the Nurburgring. We can't quite make out how the dimensions of the car are different, which is the point of the disguise, but the Black Series cars are usually a little beefier than normal. We can tell you that it sounds just right. That telltale AMG exhaust note is loud and proud. The normal GT S runs on a 4.0-liter V8 with a pair of turbochargers adding boost to make 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, so we can expect the Black Series to have plenty more horses in the stable. Until an official announcement we'll have to use what we know and add in a healthy dose of speculation to fill in the blanks.
