We won’t spoil the ending, but you can probably guess who won.
It’s David and Goliath stories like this one that keep the tuning industry going. The camera car here is a Ferrari 458 Speciale. It’s stock, but that’s still quite a lot of performance out of the box. The VW started life as a Mk VI Golf R, but has had its engine replaced by one displacing 3.6 liters and sporting a couple of turbochargers. The tuning was done by HGP (the German VW tuners, not the Human Genome Project) who must be very proud of its work.
It remains to be seen how the VW would handle a race through some twists, but outrunning a Ferrari in a straight line is accomplishment enough.
