Motivated by the most powerful V8 in Chrysler history.
Upon revealing the SRT variant of the new Challenger, Dodge announced the Hellcat would come with a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 rated at more than 600 horsepower. But when it comes to muscle cars, it’s all about the numbers, and fans of the brand wanted a triple digit to shout about. Now they have one. The most powerful V8 in Chrysler history, Dodge has now revealed the Hellcat’s powerplant delivers 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.
That’s 45 hp more than the last Mustang GT500, 127 more ponies than the Camaro ZL1 and 67 hp more than the Viper’s V10. But to access all the power, drivers will have to use a special red key fob, with a black variant limiting output to 500 hp.
