It was only a matter of time until somebody did this, and today it just so happens to be the crew over at Edmunds. In one corner is the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and in the other is the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Now, you may be thinking that these are two entirely different types of high-performance cars, but at the end of the day they're both pure American horsepower greatness. The new Corvette comes powered by an also new 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp while the familiar Shelby GT500 packs a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 with 662 horsepower.

Despite the noticeable power output difference, each car behaves quite differently when it comes to braking distances, slalom runs and skid pad ratings. So which one is the better-handling and overall more refined beast? Check out the video ahead to find out. Hat tip to Colby (of course).
