Roush is among the first people in the world to own the 2017 Ford GT.
Over 4,000 examples of the last-generation Ford GT were built between 2005 and 2006, but the new model is restricted to just 1,000 units. Unsurprisingly, Ford is being very selective on granting access to its new halo supercar, choosing customers who have an affiliation with the company or the auto industry. Famous car collector Jay Leno, for example, owned the previous GT and is considered a celebrity in the industry which put him near the top of the reserve list.
Now, Jack Roush can be added to that list, having recently received delivery of his new Ford GT wearing serial number 15. Roush's 2017 Ford GT is finished in Liquid Grey with Ingot Silver racing stripes and matte black wheels. It's not surprising to learn that Roush has the honor of being one of the first people in the world to own the seminal supercar when you look at his background.
Roush has close connections with Ford. Not only does he also own a 2005 Ford GT, which coincidentally has the same serial number as his new 2017 GT, he owns an engineering company that helped develop the GT's snarling 3.5-liter V6 engine. Many will also recognize the Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR team, and the renowned Roush Performance tuning firm that specializes in performance parts for Ford vehicles. Expect to see Roush lend his expertise to create some modifications for the new GT. Over the next four years, only 250 examples of the mid-engine supercar will be sold each year. 500 have already been allocated, with a second round of applications due to be announced at a later date.
