It's no secret that Jaguar has actively been developing an even more powerful version of its XF sports sedan. For owners not satisfied with the performance of the supercharged XFR and its 5.0-liter, 510-horsepower V8, then Jaguar has the solution in the works, and will show it off at the LA Auto Show later this month. Expected to pack the 550-horsepower supercharged engine from the XKR-S coupe and convertible, the XFR-S will be the second (but hopefully not the last) model in an expanding R-S line-up from Jaguar Land Rover.

With the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG squarely in its sights, the XFR-S will likely reach 60 in less than 5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of around 186 mph. An 8-speed automatic will likely be the only gearbox offered, so don't go looking for a third pedal. It's clear from the spy shots we've seen of the XFR-S undergoing development at the Nurburgring that the extra ponies will also come with more aggressive styling, with bigger vents and carbon aero components. For now, Jaguar has just released this teaser image showing the super sedan's front air intake and grille. We'll have the full skinny in just a couple of weeks from LA, so watch this space.
