Starting at just over $40,000, the E-Pace is the most affordable Jaguar you can buy in North America but it retains much of the style and brand cachet inherent in much more expensive Jags. That said, the E-Pace is up against tough competition like the latest Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and the Audi Q3, so Jaguar has responded by revealing the enhanced E-Pace in the United Kingdom.

A sexy new R-Dynamic Black Edition and enhanced connectivity features are the major changes to Jaguar's baby SUV. As is commonplace these days, the R-Dynamic Black Edition introduces a moodier aesthetic with dark styling elements to the E-Pace.

Based on the R-Dynamic S, a Gloss Black finish has been applied to exterior elements like the front bumper, grille, mirror caps, and side vents. It rides on stylish 19-inch Satin Grey alloy wheels which partially conceal red brake calipers. In Ostuni White paint and with its panoramic roof, it's a stunning SUV to look at. However, all the colors available to other E-Pace variants can be specified for the R-Dynamic Black Edition as well.

In the UK, the Black Edition can be paired with either the mild-hybrid D165 or D200 diesel powertrains or the P200 gas version. Inside, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are new features that will become available soon via over-the-air updates. These wireless smartphone integrations should find their way into US-spec E-Paces as well.

The latest interior also gets the curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen, although this was already announced as an upgrade last year for the facelifted 2021 E-Pace in the US. The screen provides access to the Pivi or Pivi Pro infotainment software. New engine mounts were also mentioned and, at least in UK specification, the S gets standard auto high beam assist.

In the UK, the new R-Dynamic Black Edition begins at £40,945 ($58,000 at current rates) when equipped with the less powerful diesel engine. This increases to £41,395 ($58,600) with the P200 gas engine and £41,670 ($59,000) with the D200. Diesel-powered E-Paces are not available in the US. It remains to be seen if the Black Edition comes to the US although North American customers can opt for a Black Exterior Pack.
