Just when you thought the Jaguar F-Type couldn't look any more fetching.
With their sporty looks and extra practicality, we've always been a fan of shooting brakes. What's not to love? Sadly, they're a rare sight on the roads these days due to the unrelenting popularity of SUVs. To capitalize on this void, coachbuilders have created some spectacular bespoke creations such as the awe-inspiring Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake. We'd love to see more mainstream manufacturers stretch the roof of existing models to create some stylish shooting brakes.
The Jaguar F-Type, for example, is one of the best-looking sports cars currently on the market but render artist Rain Prisk has made it even more desirable by giving it the shooting brake treatment. Based on the F-Type R, the render revises the roof and rear end while retaining the car's sporty looks. We would love to see this sexy shooting brake enter production, but that's very unlikely to happen unless someone extremely wealthy commissions it to a coachbuilder.
Jaguar is currently planning the F-Type's successor, and a shooting brake variant isn't part of the plan. Instead, the new sports car is likely to incorporate a fully electric powertrain. Jaguar is also reportedly trying to strike a deal with BMW to replace its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with the Bavarian automaker 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. A more practical version of the F-Type hasn't been ruled out though, as a 2+2 coupe could also on the cards to replace the XK.
