Jaguar's entry-level sedan may spawn wagon, coupe and convertible variants.
Plowing in to a very crowded and extremely competitive market segment, Jaguar is placing a lot of faith in its upcoming XE sedan. Aimed at the likes of the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series, the new Jag is expected to hit the market in 2015. Caught heavily camouflaged in these spy shots is the sedan version of the XE – which will be the first to be released and is expected to be followed by wagon, coupe and possibly even a convertible variants.
According to company reports, the XE uses significant amounts of aluminum in both its body and its platform, keeping weight down and allowing for very agile handling. The new Jaguar will be offered with a range of engines – everything from a four-cylinder diesel to a supercharged V8, which is expected to produce over 500 horsepower in the R model.
