Aggressive yet tasteful.
The BMW X5 has always been a brutishly handsome thing that tends to turn heads, and despite some recent digital sketches that have us a bit worried about this SUV's looks going into the future, we are still big fans of the current G05 generation. Yes the current-generation X5 is one of the best looking ones yet, and it has been at the receiving end of some aftermarket loving to make it look even better, thanks to a body kit by Larte Design, and countless others, but now Japan tuning house 3D Design, which specializes in developing body kits for BMWs, has brought out a subtle new kit that might just be the one.
The car featured in the images is the mild BMW X5 xDrive30d which is one of the more popular models outside of the US, making it the perfect platform for this new kit. The xDrive30d isn't a bad looking car in standard form, but as you can see, the 3D Design kit gives it that extra bit of aggression it needs to truly stand out. The exterior is at the receiving end of an in-your-face front lip spoiler, while the rear gets a more toned-down roof spoiler. The car rolls on a set of massive 21-inch wheels. We have to admit that it works really well in that shade of dark blue.
Not only does the exterior get some attention, but the interior of this X5 also sees some modifications. The driver gets a set of redesigned aluminum pedals for improved feel, and the BMW's steering wheel gets a set of paddle shifters that apparently feel better than the standard ones. In addition to the appearance upgrades, 3D Design also offers to re-flash the xDrive30d's ECU, which means an extra 44 hp under your right foot for a total of 300 hp. The price for this kit is available on application, and we would highly recommend it to any X5 owner who wants to stand out in the school parking lot.
