It just so happens to be the first Challenger SRT8 customer car.
It was in 2008 when the Dodge Challenger triumphantly returned to the market after a decades-long absence. But the Challenger everyone really wanted was the Hemi V8-powered SRT8. And of course Jay Leno received the very first one. But now he's donating it to the nonprofit United Service Organization (USO) for a charity auction. Leno has pledged that the car's proceeds will be donated to the USO in support of helping military families, wounded warriors, troops in transition, and families of the fallen.
His soon to be former Challenger SRT8 is powered, of course, by a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 that's good for 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It rides on a set of forged aluminum 20-inch wheels and even features a unique dash plaque. The entire first year Challenger production was only about 7,000 units, making this one a bit extra special. "I rarely sell any of my vehicles in my personal collection unless it's for something as important as the USO," Leno stated. He's been a longtime USO supporter and has performed overseas for stationed US troops several times. The Gooding & Company's Scottsdale Auction will take place on January 17.
