Jay Leno Introduces His 1964 Honda SM600: Honda's First Euro-Fighting Sports Car

Roadster

Superior to many of the British roadsters of the day.

There's a pretty good chance you've never heard of the SM600. But this is not your fault, something Jay will point out in the video, as most classic Japanese sports cars don't get the respect they deserve (the Toyota 2000GT does, but few others do). So he'll take a bit of time to go over his car and what went into restoring this underappreciated classic which has an engine that revs to 9,500 rpm, a very wonderful thing indeed.

It's not an especially powerful machine, but neither were the cars it was competing against, the muscle car had yet to become a fully realized thing at the start of 1964.
