Customer deliveries of the much-anticipated 2017 Ford GT supercar have been commencing since it rolled off the production line late last year. While you'd expect rich celebrities to be on the buying list, Ford's executive chairman Bill Ford Jr. and CEO Mark Fields were the first privileged owners of the halo supercar. As expected, high profile celebrities are now starting to receive delivery of their Ford GT. Ford has been very selective on who it grants access to its hero supercar, so it comes as no surprise that Jay Leno is one of the lucky few.

After all, the former Tonight Show host is renowned for his extensive collection of classic and exotic cars which includes a 2005 Ford GT, and has a massive online following – his 'Jay Leno's Garage' series currently has over 1.8 million subscribers and over 300 million views. A 2015 Ford GT prototype was also previously featured on the show, so the star already has an affiliation with the supercar. Leno posted an image of him excitedly receiving his 2017 Ford GT on Instagram posing with the team from Protective Film Solutions, who provided a protective wrap for the supercar. Another photo lets us gaze at the mid-engined supercar in all its glory.

Leno tastefully specced the supercar with a subtle gloss black finish complemented with red racing stripes. Ford only plans to build 250 examples of the 647-horsepower supercar every year over a period of four years. Only 500 have been allocated so far, but a second batch of applications will be available at a later date. No doubt Ford will be pleased with the exposure a celebrity like Jay Leno will give the new GT. Hopefully it won't be long until we find out if it lived up to his expectations in a future episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
