A refreshed Jeep Grand Cherokee for 2014 has been spied with practically no camouflage, looking very close to showroom-ready. The facelifted Grand Cherokee gets a redesigned, curvier front end with new headlights and LED daytime running lights that flow into a shorter version of Jeep's trademark seven-slat grille. Revisions to the SUV's lower fascia are also evident, boasting a new set of fog lights. At the rear, slightly tweaked taillamps gets LEDs while the tailgate receives a minor refresh as well.

The prototypes were spied in both Laredo and Limited trim, the former sporting body-colored mirrors and silver bodywork around the grille, while the latter sports chrome mirrors and a body-colored face. The most significant changes, however, sit behind that grille. Chrysler has confirmed the addition of a diesel powertrain for the US market, expected to be a massaged version of the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 that powers European Jeeps, good for 237 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque. The Grand Cherokee will also gain a ZF-sourced 8-speed transmission. Production is expected to start next spring following an official debut at January's Detroit show.
