The optional trim adds a darker look to the large SUV.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited Black Package has made an official appearance at this year's Chicago Auto Show to further bolster the large SUV's appeal. This special visual package can be added to the existing Limited trim for those who want a more distinctive visual exterior appearance via a series of dark trimmings.

The highlight of the Limited Black Package is t set of 20-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels. This shade is applied to a series of accents throughout the body as well as the roof rails, and unique grille design. This joins a distinctive LED headlight cluster that was recently subjected to a software recall. If you wish to add this package to your Grand Cherokee L configuration, be prepared to spend $1,695 MSRP above the $44,750 asking price for the Limited trim.

Jim Morrison, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep Brand North America says, "The first-ever three-row Grand Cherokee answered the growing needs of our Jeep SUV customers who asked for more space, functionality, and legendary 4x4 capability. It's important for us to listen to our customer base and that includes unique options they want, and the new Limited Black Package gives the 2022 Grand Cherokee L a sleek, customized look that further distinguishes it from anything else on the road."

Standard features on the Jeep Grand Cherokee L include Capri leather upholstery as standard with an eight-way driver and four-way passenger power-adjustable seating with lumbar and memory functions. The driver also has access to a heated steering wheel. The group's Uconnect 5 infotainment system is hosted on an 8.4-inch display but this can be upsized to 10.1 inches for an additional cost.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L is powered exclusively by the naturally aspirated gasoline Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 which delivers 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque to your choice of rear- or all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Limited trim, it features the brand's Selec-Terrain traction management system which provides specialized calibrations for rock, snow, mud, and sand surfaces.

Jeep's modern and more efficient 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain is currently only available on the two-row Grand Cherokee range. This employs a smaller turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a small electric motor to produce a combined 375 hp and 470 lb-ft torque. It's available in all-wheel drive only and also makes use of the eight-speed automatic.
