Set to be unveiled this weekend.
Jeep has introduced six concepts bound for the 2014 Easter Jeep Safari that kicks off in Moab, Utah, this weekend. Past years have seen some truly outrageous concepts grace the event, but this year the focus has been on showcasing vehicles and accessories from Mopar and Jeep Perfomance Parts customers can actually buy. Of the six off-road ready concepts, three are based on the Wrangler, two on the new Cherokee and one on the Grand Cherokee.
First up, the Wrangler Level Red. Sporting a black paint job with red accents, the Level Red concept boasts a two-inch lift, Dana 44 axles with a 4:10 ratio, a 3.6-liter V6 and cold air intake. It rides on 35-inch tires with prototype 17-inch beadlock wheels and wears Jeep's half-door kit. Five badges represent the five trails Jeep has dubbed 'Badge of Honor' trails that owners can complete to receive special badges. Geared towards extreme off-road enthusiasts, the Jeep Wrangler Mojo - O and J standing for orange Jeep - also gets a 2-inch lift and Dana 44s, as well as the V6, a 4:1 Rock-Trac transfer case, and 59:1 crawl ratio.
Prototype high-top fenders, 37-inch BFGoodrich tires and beadlock wheels with a bronze ring, and a hood sporting the map of Chrysler's Tech Center area in Auburn Hills round off the special features. The Mopar Blue maximum Performance completes the trio of Wranglers. It gets Dana 60 electronic-locking axles, 4.88 gearing and a Rock-Trac transfer case, a Stinger front bumper and high fender kit. All three Wrangler concepts also feature Warn winches specially optimized to resist debris and moisture. The pale yellow Trailhawk is one of two Cherokees that comes simply modified with a luggage rack Jeep plans to add to its part catalog soon.
The Cherokee Dakar concept showcases the wilder side of the redesigned Cherokee, with a silver satin paint job, red graphics, 33-inch beefy off-road tires, rock rails, skid plates and prototype bumpers. Fender flares and a lift kit round off the mods. Jeep's sixth and final concept is the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel Trail Warrior. Wearing a coat of Mojave Sand paint with satin black accents, the Trail Warrior uses Jeep's Quadra-Lift air suspension, and comes with a prototype Mopar roof basket, 20-inch cast alloys, as well as rock tails and two hooks courtesy of Jeep Performance Parts.
