Few brands release more special editions than Jeep. This year alone, the American automaker introduced a beach-themed Wrangler and a blacked out Grand Cherokee L. Just in time for Independence Day July 4, Jeep has announced a new Freedom Package that pays homage to the US military. Available for the 2023 Jeep Wrangler and 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport S trim, the package costs $3,295 and adds various military-themed elements.

The package mostly includes visual upgrades for the exterior, including an 'Oscar Mike' on the rear swing gate/tailgate, LED headlights and fog lights, body-color fenders, winch-capable steel front bumper, steel rock rails, black wheels, and black accents, and American flag decals on both side fenders. Inside, the Freedom Package features cloth seats with partial leather and black accent stitching.

"With our 1941 origins rooted in the military, we at the Jeep brand are proud of our heritage, and the Gladiator and Wrangler Freedom editions are a tribute to all the servicemen and servicewomen," said Jim Morrison, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep. "Through these special editions, this Fourth of July we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and support those who have served and continue to serve."

This is far from the first time Jeep has introduced a military-themed special edition. The brand has previously sold a Willys Edition (named after the original WW2 Willys Jeep), Black Ops Edition, and Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Edition.

Since this package is based on the Sport S trim, buyers will have a wide range of engines to choose from. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 comes standard on the Wrangler but a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 are also available. On the Jeep Gladiator, the choices are limited to the two V6 motors.

Orders for the 2023 Freedom special edition Wrangler and Gladiator open later this month for a limited time. Jeep says deliveries will begin by Veterans Day on November 11. Any active or recently retired service members will qualify for $500 military bonus cash and $250 of every Freedom Edition purchase will go towards military charities.
