Jeep Wrangler And Gladiator Now Available With Gorilla Glass

And it only costs $95.

The Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator have a reputation for being two of the toughest off-roaders on the market. While both are designed to take a lot of punishment, owners have complained that the windshield is prone to cracks and stone chips. Fortunately, Jeep now has a solution that fixes this issue. According to Mopar Insiders, Jeep is accepting orders for an optional Gorilla Glass windshield for the Wrangler and Gladiator that offers much better protection from stones and off-road debris that can damage the standard windshield.

These Gorilla Glass windshields use the same chemical-strengthening technology found on smartphone screens and are up to three times more resistant to impacts than standard glass.

Featuring an ultra-thin Gorilla Glass inner ply with a 52 percent thicker outer ply, they are also narrower and lighter than regular windshields

Jeep's Gorilla Glass windshield will set you back only $95, which is a lot cheaper than we were expecting. Jeep expects that 80 percent of Wrangler and Gladiator models will be ordered with the optional Gorilla Glass windshield. The only catch is that the stronger windshield isn't available for all trims: it will only be available for Wrangler Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon 392, Sahara 4xe, and Rubicon 4xe models. For the Gladiator, the Gorilla Glass windshield is available for the Gladiator Willys, Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave trims.

The Wrangler-based electric Magneto and Jeep Wrangler Orange Peelz concepts that debuted at this year's 2021 Easter Jeep Safari featured Gorilla Glass, but this is the first time the stronger windshield has been available as an optional upgrade for the Wrangler and Gladiator.

This isn't the first time gorilla glass has been used in the automotive industry, however - the Ford GT was the first production car to use gorilla glass for the windshield and engine cover. If you regularly take your Wrangler or Gladiator on grueling off-road adventures, this $95 option could save you a lot of money and hassle in the long run.
