Despite fresh competition from the Ford Bronco, the Jeep Wrangler remains as popular as ever. Don't change a winning formula, though it'll be fascinating to see how the fully electric Wrangler stacks up when it arrives in 2023. Until then, the Wrangler lineup presses on and one specific exterior color is racking up the orders. Introduced only this past August, Tuscadero has managed to achieve nearly 30,000 orders. It's become the most popular special edition color of 2021.

"We expected Tuscadero to be popular and the customer response has been overwhelmingly strong," said Jim Morrison, vice president and head of Jeep brand North America.

"It's so popular, we're extending production into 2022 model-year production to meet strong customer demand. Customers can place an order through December of this year."

Described by Jeep as "a deep and intense chromatic magneta," Tuscadero, a $395 option, is just one of several bold paint choices, among them Gecko, Chief, and Nacho. Perhaps best of all, Tuscadero isn't limited to only the most expensive Wrangler trim but rather everything from the entry-level Sport to the V8-powered 392 and even the 4xe PHEV. Anyone still intent on getting their new Tuscadero-colored Wrangler needs to move fast because orders will only be taken through the rest of this month.

Jeep has not confirmed whether or not it'll return for the rest of 2022. Chances are there'll be at least one new special edition color coming sometime next year, knowing Jeep. In related news, Jeep has confirmed production of the 2022 Wrangler lineup will get underway at the Toledo, Ohio Assembly Plant on December 16.

Jeep has done a good job, given the current supply circumstances, of maintaining a steady production flow over the past year and a half or so. The semiconductor chip shortage crisis will probably continue throughout next year though automakers have since managed to find creative solutions in order to boost dealer inventories.
