If you can't afford some of the world's most powerful supercars, Lego offers some astonishingly detailed replica models through its Technic series, from the Bugatti Chiron to the recently revealed Ferrari 488 GTE race car. Now, for off-roading fans, there's this: the Lego Technic Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Some Lego Technic car models are more faithful and accurate-looking than others, but it turns out that the Wrangler's boxy body is especially well-suited to being recreated with Lego bricks. Who knew.

Featuring 665 pieces in all, and molded in a yellow-and-black color scheme, the Lego version of the hardcore Wrangler Rubicon lets builders recreate the off-roader's high-performance 4x4 systems, rugged tires, and fold-down rear seats. Naturally, distinctive Jeep styling cues like the round headlamps and seven slot grille have also been reproduced here.

It's not as complex a kit as Lego's 2,573-piece Land Rover Defender, but it does feature functioning parts like a button-operated front steering system and an axle-articulation suspension. Being based on one of the most rugged off-roaders, we expect it to be capable of climbing the highest desks, navigate the roughest carpets, and wading through waterlogged lawns.

"The Jeep Wrangler is an icon in the off-road world," says Lars Thygesen, Designer at Lego Technic. "The Rubicon has a lot of the iconic details loved by 4x4 fans the world over, so it was important to me to pack as many of the authentic, powerful features of the real vehicle into the Lego Technic replica. Available to buy online or at Lego retail stores from January 1, 2021, the Jeep Wrangler Lego Technic model will be priced at $49.99/49.99€/£44.99.
