According to Automotive News, the much anticipated Maserati SUV will be making its debut in concept form to the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The upcoming SUV will be based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee and will be equipped with a 4.7-liter V8 engine cranking out 450hp mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. It could receive a 3-liter V6 diesel that produces about 300hp, which is the same unit that's currently in the European Grand Cherokee.

It's also been confirmed that Chrysler will manufacture the SUV in addition to the Grand Cherokee at the same production facility. In addition to their new SUV, Maserati is also making plans to launch two new sedans to replace its current Quattroporte flagship model. Maserati is now making plans to investing some €550 million Euro or around $774 million USD to help launch the upcoming models. Production versions of the still unnamed SUV will hit the market sometime in 2013. Photos displayed are rendering.
