It won't look like the EXP10 Speed 6 concept, but will it at least be close?
The Continental, soon to be the second-best selling Bentley, is due for a refresh. The new Continental is supposed to come out next year, and this time it wont be the kind of refresh that it got in 2011 when engineers changed much of the car's mechanical workings but left the skin nearly untouched. Instead, the new Bentley Continental will get a lower stance and a more muscular body to boast. At least this is what Bentley's new design director Stefan Sielaff told Car and Driver in a recent showing of the new car.
He also mentioned that despite the changes, traditional Bentley DNA will remain in the car, making this transition in generations a lot like that of the Porsche 911. Unfortunately, Bentley won't show pictures of the car to anyone, but word is that the refresh won't have much in common with the EXP10 Speed 6 concept except for the patterned headlights. At least the new Continental will come with a V8 and V12, which was a concern given how fuel economy standards are cutting into luxury cars as well. New for the interior will be 3D printed parts, which will let Bentley create designs that can't be made with normal manufacturing processes. Look for it at the Paris Motor Show in September 2016.
