In a bid to undercut the Lucid Air and be cheeky in the process, the 2020 Tesla Model S received a sudden price cut to $69,420. The dollar amount itself might be silly, but the Model S now has a significant price advantage over its rivals, including some that haven't even been revealed yet. Karma Automotive, makers of the Revero hybrid luxury sedan, recently announced a new all-electric model that will use the GS series name.

The first model in the GS Series will be called the GSe-6, and Karma just revealed pricing information along with a new teaser image. The GSe-6 starts at $79,900, meaning it will lose the price war against Tesla by more than $10,000. Is this new Karma dead on arrival, or is there more to it?

Karma's current model, the Revero, borrows the engine from a BMW i8 and two electric motors to produce 536 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the Revero, which still uses the body and platform from the old Fisker Karma, the GSe-6 will use a new architecture called the E-Flex Platform, which will later underpin a new 1,110-hp supercar. If the GSe-6 also produces over 1,000 hp, it could give Tesla a reason to worry.

Based on the teaser images (shown above in orange), the GSe-6 will look a lot like the current Revero GT. While the design is almost a decade old, the Revero still feels very modern, so this isn't bad news. According to Karma, the GSe-6 will also get connected car capabilities, internet radio, 21-inch wheels, and other vehicle enhancements.

Reservations for the new Karma are now open, with a fully-refundable $100 deposit. Deliveries begin in 2021. Customers can order the car with a 75-kWh lithium-ion battery delivering a 200-mile range or a larger 100-kWh battery that can go 300 miles on a charge.

"We are pleased to announce that our first all-electric vehicle is now available for pre-order at a price point that is competitive with other vehicles in the space," said Joost de Vries, VP of global sales and customer experience for Karma. "We have been producing vehicles here in the USA for a while and the new all-electric GSe-6 was the next logical step in our progression as a company. We like to say we go 'beyond EV' and this vehicle, combined with our existing extended-range EV technology in the Revero GT, offers consumers a unique solution for their next vehicle purchase."
