Katzkin Does Detroit Leather Right

When Shelby or Mopar want to do something special, they call on Katzkin to remake the interior.

Automakers usually craft their interiors in-house, but when they’re looking for something with a little extra flair, they’ve been known to turn to independent upholsterers. For some muscle-car manufacturers, that comes down to Katzkin, which was called upon by the likes of Mopar and Shelby to craft special interiors for the specialty cars. Nowhere was that more evident than the recent New York Auto Show, where the Shelby Raptor and Focus and a series of custom Chrysler products all featured Katzin leather interiors.

Katzkin hides have adorned a number of Mopar show cars over the past couple of years, including the Fiat 500 Stinger and Dodge Dart GTS, the special Mossy Oak and Red Wings edition Ram trucks and the most recent Moab Jeep Sandtrooper and Flattop show cars. The partnership with Shelby American, however, is a little newer. However many Raptors which Shelby decides to build in the end, Katzkin will be ready to trick out their interiors to match the upgraded performance components.
