Car-sharing is an increasingly popular idea. This isn't carpooling that we're talking about, but rather the rental of privately-owned vehicles. Turo is the leading company in this niche and can get you behind the wheel of a Porsche, the C8 Corvette, or even a Tesla Model 3. Now, the company is using the electric vehicle as the poster car for travel safety.

Turo has designed a new car mask and is working alongside manufacturers to make the novel accessory available to top hosts on its site as a reminder to wear personal protection equipment when road tripping while on vacation.

Turo says that "this mask awareness push is part of our broader effort to promote safety while traveling, following the introduction of enhanced cleaning and disinfecting guidelines and the enhancement of contactless access options during the pandemic."

The eye-catching car mask is difficult to ignore, and the idea is that when popular Turo cars are collected for rental, the sight of a mask on the car will remind travelers to remain safe. Obviously, electric vehicles like the Model 3 won't need much in the way of air intake from the front, but as Turo is working alongside manufacturers, we expect that slightly different designs will ensure traditional cars get the air they need.

Companies like Volkswagen are also doing their part to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic by producing masks but Tesla itself is also aiming to save the world from the virus, reinforcing the idea that Elon Musk is a kind of real-life Tony Stark. Although likely not intentional, Turo's car mask appears to have the added benefit of protecting the paint on the front of the cars it is equipped too. Regardless of the side benefits, it's clear that this global issue is affecting all sectors of industry and life, and initiatives like this, as small as they may be, are vital in ensuring that people stay as safe as possible.
