Kia Decides To Make Its Own Fast & Furious Movie

With a new action flick featuring a variety of cool features.

The American movie industry has taken a major hit in 2020, with theater chains unable to open due to the coronavirus pandemic. This global situation has halted nearly all major car events and has also delayed all of the Summer Hollywood blockbuster movies like Fast & Furious 9 and others. With no fun car flicks to see in theaters, Kia Motors thought it would be a cool idea to fill the void with its own unique take on a Summer blockbuster movie.

Filmed in the style of noir thrillers from Hollywood's golden age, Kia has released an epic new adventure called 'The Features Film.' Kia describes the film's protagonist as a "young man with a heart of gold who got mixed up with the wrong crowd, eventually becoming a getaway driver for the mob." Over the course of a single night, the protagonist enlists the help of eight different Kia models to help him escape from the seedy underworld.

In the film, the protagonist and mobsters discover a slew of safety, convenience, technology, and comfort features in each of the Kia vehicles. The vehicles featured in the film include the Forte, Soul, Niro EV, Niro HEV, Seltos, Sportage, Sorento, and the flagship Kia Stinger as the final escape vehicle.

"We'll miss going to the movies this Summer and catching the latest Hollywood blockbusters, so Kia took this as an opportunity to provide a similar viewing experience, but with a plot twist you never saw coming," said Russell Wager, director, marketing operations, Kia Motors America. "With many automakers offering the same or similar vehicle options, The Features Film is a unique, entertaining, and fun way to differentiate ourselves and reach consumers directly with highly creative content."

The film was produced by Kia's creative agency, David&Goliath. It is divided into 13 individual, 15-second pre-roll videos, which will likely be used in future commercials. The full six-minute video is now available on Kia's YouTube channel and is a great way to kill some time while also learning about new Kia models. The dialog is purposefully a bit campy but there are some legitimately good stunts and chase scenes to keep car lovers entertained.
