The reaction following the debut of the Kia EV6, the automaker's first fully dedicated all-electric vehicle, has been solid. Like its corporate cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the EV6 rides on the South Korean automaker's new e-GMP platform but the two look nothing alike. The EV6 is intended for those who prefer a sportier and more aggressive-looking vehicle.

Last week, Kia showed the First Edition that's limited to just 1,500 examples and very soon you'll be able to hop in the queue by placing a preorder. Kia has announced it will begin accepting those preorders on June 3 at 10 am PST, or 1 pm EST.

A fully refundable $100 deposit will be required and if you're lucky enough to snag one, delivery will happen in the first part of next year. An official full price wasn't revealed. Just three exterior/interior color combinations are being offered: Urban Yellow with black seats, Glacier White with dark green seats, and Steel Gray Matte with black seats. The first two combos are exclusive to the First Edition. Additional features include a head-up display, Smart Park, a sunroof, 20-inch wheels, and a 14-speaker Meridian audio system.

A dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup with a 77.4-kWh battery is standard. Illuminated door sills with "First Edition" written on them will remind owners every time they enter of their car's uniqueness. A numbered interior badge is also being added.

The first 1,500 buyers are being offered the choice of three gifts with their car: an at-home charger, a credit for a national charging network, or an Apple Watch that can connect to the EV6's suite of online services.

"The all-new EV6 represents the future of Kia and this special edition celebrates our first dedicated electric vehicle's remarkable debut," said Russell Wager, Kia's vice president of marketing. "We want to celebrate drivers that are ready to take this exciting road with Kia and offer something truly special and unique to complement their EV lifestyles." If you're dead-set on getting one of these limited EV6s, then be sure to be online with your credit card ready bright and early on June 3.
