To cope with the high demand, Kia rescheduled the launch of the reservation website for the EV6 First Edition. Preorders for Kia's first dedicated EV went live yesterday, but if you were hoping to place an order now, you are unfortunately out of luck. We were expecting it to sell out fast, and we were right. Production of the Kia EV6 First Edition is limited to just 1,500 examples, and every one of them was reserved on the day orders went live.

Customers who ordered an EV6 First Edition were given a choice of three gifts: an at-home vehicle charger, a 1000 kWh credit within a national charging network, or an Apple Watch.

According to Kia, over 81 percent of customers who preordered the EV6 chose the at-home charger. Three color combinations were available for the EV6, including an exclusive Urban Yellow exterior with black seats. Other color combinations included Glacier (white) with dark green seats, and Steel Gray Matte with black seats, but Kia hasn't revealed which combination was the most popular.

As standard, the EV6 First Edition is generously equipped with illuminated door sills, an augmented reality head-up display, remote parking assist, a sunroof, 20-inch wheels, and a premium 14-speaker sound system. There is also a numbered interior badge highlighting the limited-edition model's exclusivity.

A 77.4-kWh battery and an AWD dual-motor setup is offered as standard for the First Edition, but the EV6 will also be available with RWD and a lower-range 58-kWh battery.

"Kia welcomes the first EV6 buyers who join us in this historic movement," said Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America. "Kia's 'electric lifestyle' delivers a unique combination of luxury, performance and technology and the First Edition EV6 will provide owners with an experience all of their own." Deliveries for the 2022 Kia EV6 First Edition will begin in Q1, 2022.
