Kia EV6 GT Pairs Quick Charging With Quick Acceleration

The new performance EV gets a nice charging deal.

The 2023 Kia EV6 GT arrives as the brand's quickest electric vehicle to-date with 576 horsepower and a 3.4-second 0-60 mph time. That rapid acceleration will be paired with quick charging because the EV6 GT can go from 10 to 80% battery in just 18 minutes at a 350 kW station. Pricing for the GT model starts at $61,400 and just like the standard EV6, it comes with a pretty great charging deal from Electrify America.

"Working closely with automakers to provide seamless fast charging solutions is critical to expanded EV adoption, and we're excited to collaborate with Kia to help make the transition to an electric lifestyle even easier for new EV owners," said Giovanni Palazzo, president and chief executive officer of Electrify America. "Public charging offers drivers a convenient way to charge quickly away from home and is a critically important opportunity to instill range confidence in EV drivers."

First-time EV6 GT owners will receive 1,000 kWh of complimentary charging on the EA network. That's enough to travel around 3,500 to 4,000 miles at no cost. Or put another way, an EV6 GT owner could fully recharge the 77.4 kWh battery just under 13 times. Owners will have three years to take advantage of the deal.

The free tank of gas you get with an internal combustion car doesn't sound so good anymore, does it? It is worth noting though that the EV6 GT's range is considerably lower than a standard EV6 with only 206 miles per charge.

This is one of the better charging deals we've seen recently, as many automakers have dialed back their complimentary charging offers with EVs starting to sell in larger numbers. The EV6 GT might not have great range, but the performance and this excellent charging offer could entice buyers to choose it over a competitor.

"The Kia EV6 GT is made for performance, and our ongoing collaboration with Electrify America will help ensure these vehicles can do just that," said Steve Center, COO and EVP, Kia America. "As Kia continues its shift to electrification, the EV6 GT takes that next step by providing a superior electric driving experience."
