We will know all on January 6.
Just one month into 2021 and Kia is already making big moves. The South Korean automaker recently published a teaser video entitled "A New Journey Begins." It's a cryptic title with even less descriptive contents, but we think we've cracked the code on what it means. Right at the end of 2019, Kia was spotted trademarking a new design for its corporate logo and just one week ago, another leak showed that the brand is ready to introduce a new slogan.
This teaser clearly ties into the new logo and slogan, as Kia readies to relaunch the brand in 2021. The video doesn't show any new vehicles, just a few pretty CGI-rendered backgrounds, but it does provide a date for the brand relaunch. The event will take place on Wednesday, January 6, at 10 am GMT (5 am EST).
It's still unclear how much Kia plans to reveal this week given how early we are into the new year. We will almost certainly see Kia's new logo and officially hear the company's new "Movement that Inspires" slogan, but Kia may also reveal one of the five new (or significantly updated) models that it plans to release in 2021 as part of the "Plan S" strategy. That new logo has to appear somewhere, and a new model seems like the perfect opportunity to show it off to the public.
There are several rumored Kia vehicles that could be the first to receive the new logo. We have our money on the next-generation Kia Sportage, which was recently leaked before its official reveal. Hyundai has already released the Tucson, so it makes sense for Kia's counterpart to make its debut fairly soon. The new logo could also appear on the next-generation Sedona (rumored to switch to the Carnival name) or the Cadenza, which could change its name to K8. Only a few days remain until Kia tells all.
