Apparently going in reverse at over 100 mph does amazing things.
Super Bowl LII is happening this Monday night and that means it’s time for those commercials to start appearing. Kia has just released this year’s offering featuring a pair of legends, Steven Tyler and Emerson Fittipaldi, in the all-new Stinger GT. Kia is using the big game to launch what it calls its “Fuel by Youth, A State of Mind” Stinger marketing campaign. The commercial itself is called “Feel Something Again,” featuring a remix of Tyler’s iconic hit with Aerosmith, “Dream On.” The premise is, like the campaign title suggests, finding your youth.
It begins with Tyler stepping out of his trailer in a track suit just as Fittipaldi returns, looking quite satisfied, in a Kia Stinger from a track run. Instead of setting the transmission in ‘Drive’, Tyler goes in ‘Reverse,' and essentially goes back in time and becomes young again.
Now we understand the two-time Formula One and Indianapolis 500 champion’s pleasure. The Kia Stinger GT is powered by a twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp which, according to the automaker, will send drivers on a “transformative journey.” In Tyler’s case, it was back in the seventies when he was only 25 years-old. Kia says it worked closely with Tyler by utilizing state-of-the-art video and CGI work to help bring back his younger self. “The Stinger is the dream car driving enthusiasts have been longing for with its head-turning design, premium amenities and heart-pounding power at an incredibly value-packed price,” said Saad Chehab, vice president, marketing communications, Kia Motors’ America.
“As one of the youngest mainstream car companies in the U.S., our youth – and the fearlessness that comes with it – is Kia’s strength, and the youthful mindset we share with Steven Tyler and Emerson Fittipaldi is on full display in our Super Bowl ad.”
